Shooting Cowboys ~ Photographing Canadian Cowboy Culture 1875-1965
by Brock V. Silversides
Condition; very good, minor scratches on dust jacket over hard cover, RARE
Fifth House Publishers, 1997
Presented is a fascinating selection of the cowboy images produced in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta (before 1905 part of the old North-West Territories), the original heart of the Canadian ranching industry. The collection begins with the plainsmen of Fort Walsh in the 1870s and ends in the mid-1960s, prior to the onset of the “Urban cowboy” phenomenon and the “new” country music. The majority of these images have never been published.
