Personal Narrative of James O. Pattie of Kentucky
By James O. Pattie
A Readex book, 1966
Condition; good, hard cover
Originally printed in 1833, this book describes the adventures of the author during 1824-1830 in the southwestern United States and Mexico. Setting out with his father on a trapping and trading expedition up the Missouri River in 1824, they reached Council Bluffs. However, the lack of a license to trade with the Indians prevented them from going farther. Therefore they joined up with a party headed for Santa Fe. Making their way throughout the west, California and Mexico, his narrative terminates in Cincinnati in 1830. Fascinating read of the opening of the west.
