Montana Mine (Ruby, Arizona) Miner’s Lantern
This is a vintage Dewar Manufacturing Co. Dew-R-Lite Carbide Miner’s Lamp featuring a distinctive curved hanging hook and reflector dish, manufactured in Brooklyn, New York around the 1920s to 1930s.
- Mechanism: Operates via a water-and-calcium-carbide reaction to produce a bright acetylene gas flame for underground mining.
- Design Features: Includes a ribbed lower water/carbide chamber, a front circular reflector, and an articulated wire handle with a pick/suspension hook.
- Crudely etched onto the reflector is “Montana Mine Ruby Ariz” see photos.
