A few short weeks after the Battle of the Little Bighorn was the skirmish at Warbonnet Creek where the Indian-fighting U. S Army fought the Cheyenne warriors who were intent on joining the victors of the previous battle. Led by Buffalo Billl Cody as its central figure, the action of July 17, 1876 almost passed into legend. It was the end of the beginning of the Great Sioux War.
