In this unique photographic journal, the history of the Sioux People comes dramatically and poignantly alive. Their religious beliefs, tribal politics, family life, and conflict with the white man’s ways are recreated through the talents of two remarkable men. The famous pioneer photographer, John Anderson’s photographs, taken in the late 1800s and early 1900s, represent the finest existing record of the Brulé Sioux people. They are the product of 42 years of close association with the Sioux, while serving as manager of the Rosebud Agency Trading Post. And artist/author Paul Dyck.
