A Luftwaffe aiguillette (known in German as the Achselband or Fangschnur) is a formal braided shoulder cord worn on dress uniforms to denote an officer’s ceremonial appointment, such as an aide-de-camp or adjutant.
Officer’s Dress Aiguillette (Paradefangschnur): Worn by standard officers with formal gala or parade dress. These were meticulously constructed from bright aluminum-silver bullion wire.
