Cowboy boots, 1870s-1880s period original pair of boots
Dark brown, 14 ½” tall early 1870s-1880s period cowboy boots with rare scalloped top, front and back. This feature has been found on boots as early as 1868 – 1869 but is not all that common. Heels are 1 1/8” scooped, semi rounded toe, unusual scalloped front last which is another feature found on some early boots, but not that prevalent, usually indicative of a fine quality boot maker. Some decorative stitching at the top and down the back. The uppers are made of a pebble finish, inside lining is a light brown calfskin. Condition is excellent for the age. Strange as it sounds, there are remnants of horse manure on the arch of one of the boots! Size; medium.
