DORA 9

Fw 190 D-9 "Black 1" W. Nr. 210003, Pilot Oblt. Hans Dortenmann of 14./JG 26 (IV. Gruppe), March 1945 near Varrelbusch, Germany.

This aircraft was the third D-9 delivered having been originally tested and adjusted at Rechlin, then issued to Dortenmann. It survived the war; however, Dortenmann sadly blew up his trusty crate at war's end. In addition, it is featured on the cover of GREEN HEARTS FIRST IN COMBAT WITH THE DORA 9, a Luftwaffe unit history by Axel Urbanke. Each print is co-autographed by Gerhard Kroll, who as Feldwebel flew D-9's with III./JG 54 as top cover for Kommando Nowotny's Me 262's. After Nowotny's death, Kroll was assigned to home defense flying with JG 26.

 STORM CLOUDS OVER TUNISIA

Historical artist Jerry Crandall has scored yet another coup by being the first to secure the autograph of Italy's leading living fighter ace!

Sergente Maggiore LUIGI GORRINI flies his Macchi MC.202 "Vespa 2 85" over a column of Tiger I tanks in the Tunisian desert in this remarkable, historically accurate print.

After his initial victories over Africa he then flew in defense of Italy. October 1943, he joined the Italian National Republican Aviation (R.S.I.) where he was assigned to l Gruppo C.T.

Scoring a total of 24 victories he is the highest ranked living Italian Ace. His many awards include the Iron Cross II Class. Three Silver Medals and the Medal of Gold (The Medaglia d'Oro) for Military valor. Mr. Gorrini reentered the Italian military and served until 1979 retiring as an officer.

This is the first in our SIGNATURE EDITION SERIES. Each print measures 18 l/2" X 25" image with margins.
