Image size 15 3/4" x 19 1/2" with margins; 19" x 23" overall The Painting: Nowotny was flying his Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-6 work number W. Nr, 470006 with JG 54 Greenhearts when he achieved his 25Oth victory, an IL-2, which occurred over Orel, Russia. JG 54 was noted for its innovative and non-standard color schemes. Although the exact shades are not known it is assumed the upper colors were a medium green and a dark olive green. There was a small white number 8 in the Kommandeur Chevron while under the cockpit was a small white number 13. The lower part of the engine cowling, the under portion of the wing tips, the fuselage band and the lower area of the rudder were yellow. The outer wing guns have been removed and faired over. Although constructed primarily of wood, the Russian IL-2 was difficult to bring down due to the heavy armor plate. Some of the pilots nicknamed it "cement bomber". One of the methods used to shoot it down was to approach it from underneath and destroy the oil cooler. $65.00 each s/n edition $115.00 each Artist's Proofs
Image size l6 l/2" X 22" with margins; 20' X 25 1/2" overall The Painting: "Jochen" Marseille was considered by some of his contemporaries to be the most talented pilot in the Luftwaffe. General Adolf Galland even referred to him as the "unequaled virtuoso of all fighter pilots". On 1 September 1942, he shot down 17 British fighters on three missions, 8 aircraft in 10 minutes. Many times he had multiple victories, eventually to become the most successful Luftwaffe pilot to fly against Western opponents. He was awarded Germany's highest honor, the Knight's Cross with Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds. $65.00 each s/n edition $115.00 each Artist's Proofs
Image size 17" X 24" with margins; 27 1/2" X 20 3/4" overall The Painting: The classic Ju 87 B-2 Stuka, in all of its ugliness, was made famous by Rudel. It is incredible what he accomplished with an aircraft that was outdated and vulnerable in the Western Theatre. The markings depict late 1941 when Rudel flew with the Staff of III./SG 2. Artist Jerry Crandall personally interviewed Valerian Dill, one of Rudel's instructors for details about the aircraft and its pilots, who also furnished valuable original photos. $65.00 each s/n edition $115.00 each Artist's Proofs Collect the entire set of three prints with matching numbers$195.00 each set s/n edition $345.00 each set Artist's ProofsEagle Editions Ltd. * P.O.
