Vest006 – Exceptional, original piece of American history. Rare, very early fancy ivory silk brocade wedding vest. Three pockets, 6 unusual domed shaped, brass buttons all intact. Lining and back panel is crème colored cotton, back has adjustable belt and buckle. Typical of this period is the padded breast panels, complying with the “bird-chest” fashion of the day. Making this piece exceptional is the original label sewn inside the vest that states: “Wedding vest of Charles E. Hayward, June 14, 1854.” This amazing piece is one of a kind and would be the highlight of any collection of early Americana.

Vest007 – Very early 1850s period exceptional, high quality gambler’s style vest. Ivory brocade with flower design, shawl collar, lined and backed with crème colored cotton. Back panel has unusual lacing rather than the later belt and buckle configuration for tight fit. Beautifully hand sewn which includes such details as six self covered buttons and pocket corners that have a three point embroidery design for reinforcement. This rare and beautiful vest is in excellent plus condition.

Vest008 – Rust brown men’s four pocket wool vest. Typical type worn by cowboys, probably 1890 period. Lining is striped polished cotton, back panel dark brown silk with standard adjusting belt/buckle configuration. Seven buttons covered with pinwheel design thread. Overall excellent condition with some minor fraying at the armpit.
